I’m thrilled that my first twitterbot is up and running. I used Tracery, a JavaScript library by GalaxyKate, to create a generative text script. I then used Cheapbotsdonequick to launch a Twitterbot that tweets generated text on a regular schedule. I was inspired by C.A. Pinkham’s curated stories of what goes on behind the scenes at restaurants, particularly from the perspective of a server. The weekly publication of these stories (currently on Wonkette, formerly on Kitchenette) is a real highlight in my week, and it was very fun to code a Tracery that makes me laugh as much as this one does.
I’m already thinking about my next Tracery project and how to fold this new skill into a game.
